Great Data Products, by Jed Sundwall at Radiant Earth

I have limited experience (compared to Jed) at creating open, valuable geospatial data products, but it was the goal of the project that took up 95% of my 3.5 years at JPL.

How I read - by Henrik Karlsson

This article was on the weekly list that a friend sends around to our not-a-book club, and one was pretty surprised by this description- “Do you actually do this when you read, Scott?” I don’t do it when I’m reading something just for entertainment. But to me, the article read like a personalized summary of How to Read a Book (a much more digestible summary). It didn’t have anything new, but was a nice set of reminders for how to read material when you want to digest it completely and have it change your mindset in some way.

The article will not be new to anyone who has done research, because it would be impossible to finish a Ph.D if you set out to do a literature review and said “I doing to learn about current AI trends by taking these 20 research papers, and read them front-to-back before bed like a novel.” If you aren’t doing something like the three-pass method when reading research, you’ll spend 90% of you time on poor quality junk.
